Dear Fellow Lost Boys and Lost Girls of Sudan,

I hope you are doing well wherever you are here in the United States or around the world.

My name is Akol Aguek. I am a PhD candidate at the University of Vermont’s College of Education and Social Services. I am conducting a research study focusing on the Lost Boys and Lost Girls of Sudan’s post college career, socioeconomic, and social status outcomes. I am conducting this research study through the University of Vermont, and my contact information are [email protected] and 802-338-7917.

My goal is to collect data from all the Lost Boys and Lost Girls of Sudan who have resettled in the United States and have acquired at least a bachelor’s degree from an American college or university. As a Lost Boy or Lost Girl of Sudan with a college degree, I would like to collect a data on your highest level of educational attainment, income, and occupation as well as on your perception of your social status in the society at this point in your life. Also, I would like you to give me qualitative information on your perceptions of your post college career, socioeconomic, and social status outcomes.

The goal of this research study, which is the first of its kind, is to learn from you, as a Lost Boy or Lost Girl of Sudan, how you have done since you graduated from college, and how the findings from this research study can be used to inform the policies that may help the Lost Boys or Lost Girls like you or immigrants or refugees in similar situation to achieve their post college career and socioeconomic goals.

You have the right to participate or decline to participate in this research study without any cohesion or retribution of any kind. Further, you have the right to withdraw from this research study any time or ask to have the data you share removed from being used in this research study.
